art transports you

art by Maryn Mahler

Art is a doorway to an imaginative realm,
waiting to be discovered.

Hi! I’m Maryn.

When life throws challenges at me, I take refuge in my studio and out in nature. Fully absorbed in art, I settle into a calmness and clarity that flows into every aspect of my life.

Through art, I create portals to imaginative worlds.

Currently based in Vancouver, Washington, Maryn is a seasoned artist and educator with over 40 years of experience teaching art and ceramics to students of all ages. She leads workshops in drawing, painting, pottery, and mixed media, for beginners and seasoned artists.

Maryn is experienced in watercolor and acrylic painting, ceramics and pottery (both hand-building, wheel-throwing, and sculpture), handmade art books, mixed media and collage, linoleum cuts and prints, and assemblage.

She is passionate about visual storytelling.

Maryn earned her Master’s in Education from San Jose State University and has studied under renowned artists Ann Baldwin, Robert Burridge, and Martha Castillo.

The clay waits for curious hands to bring it to life. With each press, shapes emerge—playful, unexpected, as if the clay itself has a secret to share.

Aslan

“Aslan is a lion- the Lion, the great Lion."
"Ooh" said Susan. "I'd thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion"...
"Safe?" said Mr Beaver ..."Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.”

―C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Ceramics

Clay, cool and firm, becomes supple under the patient, warm hands of a ceramic artist. The clay softens, slowly taking shape under careful pressure. A potter transforms earth into art.
